FINAL RENDERED LIGHT RAIL STOP AND CONCEPTS - EXPERIMENT 2

The elevated ceiling of the final design structure generates the public space of a light rail stop whilst simultaneously the lower ceiling areas of the designs creates small private areas of shelter allowing for meeting points as well as working areas for university students and the local community. The filtered light through the glass ceiling continues the spatial continuity upwards and further opens up the space, encouraging the gathering of the university community.

The utilisation of large glass panels as the ceiling is inspired by Adjaye's investigation with light within his own designs. The reflections generated by the glass, creates an unique experience for the community as the light continues to shift throughout the day, this also creates interesting shadow patterns due to the light rail stop's 'diamond-like' ceiling structure. Both results attempts to draw the in the attention of the community towards the architecture and its function.

The elevated and 'floating' nature of the ceiling structure, interrogates lightness within architecture, expressed in Gonzalez De Leon's quote, in which he moves away from strong structures and investigates forms of permanence, lightness and novelty. The sharp vertexes created in the light rail stop suggests a kinetic movement away from his studies of strong structures and further evokes the movement of a light rail, hence indicative of the designs function.
